Rabbi Atara Cohen


Rabbi Atara served as the Rabbinic Field Fellow at Base MNHTN from August 2021 - June 2022. Atara is passionate about fostering vibrant communities in which all participants can cultivate their own Jewish journeys. Throughout her rabbinic training, she balanced traditional yeshiva learning with social justice organizing. Atara was ordained by Yeshivat Maharat and has learned Torah at Midreshet Nishmat, Hadar, Drisha, and through a BA in Religion from Princeton University. Along the way, she focused on human rights and social change through various fellowships and internships. Atara served as a rabbinic intern at the Columbia-Barnard Hillel, as a Cooperberg-Rittmaster Pastoral and Educational Intern at Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, and currently teaches Mishna at the Abraham Joshua Heschel School.  Atara is a novice runner, an avid knitter, and a vegetarian recipe innovator.
