Rabbi Hayley Goldstein
Truth teller, Purim queen, 90s R&B lover
Hayley Goldstein served as the Rabbi of Base Ithaca from 2019-2022, serving Cornell students and the greater Ithaca Jewish community. Hayley grew up outside of Minneapolis, MN (so she's not afraid of the cold!). She received a BA in Religious Studies from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado and Rabbinic Ordination at Hebrew College Rabbinical School in Newton, MA.
Prior to Base, Hayley served as the Rabbinic Intern at Nehar Shalom Community Synagogue in Jamaica Plain, MA. As a SVARA-trained Educator, Hayley is honored to have run several batei midrash in both Israel and in Boston. Her favorite teaching moment is when two hevrutot (study buddies) high five one another in support of their learning. The kind of atmosphere Hayley strives to create is warm and welcoming and at the same time rigorous. Hayley has served as a chaplain in a full-service hospital and in a rehabilitation center for the elderly. Her passion lies in shaking up people’s preconceived notions of what Judaism is/was/can be/will be. Since she became observant at 19, Hayley’s home has been a hub of Jewish ritual, learning, and life and above all else--Shabbos.
Hayley can be found learning/teaching Talmud, preparing delicious chicken for shabbos, singing complex chasidic niggunim, or ushering in the Sabbath by cleaning the house to the music of Usher.
