Based-In ANRBR

Based-In ANRBR is a part-time Base outpost, home to Rabbi Joel Goldstein and a place (sometimes physically, sometimes metaphorically) to help you craft your Jewish life. I believe that a Jewish life involves walking a unique, individualized path, but also having shared, communal experiences at the intersections of several different paths. My hope is that through one-on-one conversations, learning Torah, Shabbat and holiday meals, chesed projects, and get-togethers whose only purpose is to have fun, I can help be a resource for you on those paths and those intersections.

Rabbi Joel Goldstein is the Based-In Rabbi for the Ann Arbor Base. In this role he creates the local Base community by hosting Shabbat dinners, justice programs, and holiday meals, and holds one-on-one conversations with participants. Joel received ordination from Yashrut and from Hebrew College Rabbinical School in Massachusetts.

Rabbi Joel is an engineer turned Rabbi who loves learning. He has taught high school Talmud, worked as a synagogue Rabbi in the North Shore of Massachusetts, and as the Campus Rabbi at Syracuse Hillel. He serves as a faculty member for Yashrut, a laboratory of synergistic learning of Talmud and Jewish Law. A native of Los Angeles, Joel spent his undergraduate years in Berkeley, California. When not studying or teaching Torah, Joel enjoys spending time with his spouse (Rachel) and his children (Yahra and Gedalia), hiking, obsessing about the Dodgers, and practicing Shotokan Karate.
